Does a 60W USB-C Cable Charge Faster?
3 min read · 21 October 2026

Not necessarily. “Up to 60W” describes the maximum charging power the cable can support. It does not mean every device will charge at 60W.
Charging is a team effort
Your device, USB-C wall plug or other power source, and cable work together. A phone that only accepts a lower amount of power will still charge at its own limit. The same is true if the wall plug supplies less than 60W.
Why 60W can still be useful
It gives the cable enough headroom for everyday USB-C phones, tablets and many USB-C laptops when paired with suitable equipment. USB-IF notes that USB-C-to-USB-C cable categories have different power capabilities, so it is worth checking the rating rather than assuming all cables are identical.
Keep the wording straight
ChargeUp Co.'s cable supports charging up to 60W. It is not a 60W wall charger, and it does not come with a wall plug. For faster charging, use a compatible power source and check your device’s own charging requirements.
Browse a light blue USB-C charging cable or choose a multi-cable pack for spares around home and work.
